I am always a fan of Sharon Sheeley. She is one of my favorite song writers. I recommend this book.
Could have used some proofreading. She was there and I wasn't but she got some facts wrong. Nonetheless, very interesting and worth reading!
An interesting and entertaining read but that's as far as it goes. Although Sharon Sheeley wrote songs for some very popular recording artists, her name isn't exactly a household word. The book is not so much about her songwriting as it is the circles she moved in from 1956-1961. There is an extensive photo section but the photos aren't dated, many lack names, and some have the wrong names. I give the editor low marks for failing to catch errors. It doesn't take an expert to spot a picture of Adam Faith and Gene Vincent that's captioned Phil and Don Everly.

Sheeley had a column in a national film magazine around 1960 where she wrote about herself and her rock 'n' roll friends. There she described incidents that conflict with stories published in this book. There are also stories in the book where the source is unclear because she wasn't even present.

This book appears to have been padded with unverified information from some questionable sources in the hope readers will believe it's all Sharon Sheeley's words. Saying that Elvis hired one of her songwriting friends to cut all his demos makes one wonder just how much of this book is fact and how much is fiction.
When I got home from work Wednesday, the book was here waiting for me. I read it in one night - just could not put it down - riveting story - such fun to read, and so bittersweet at the end - it really choked me up! Sharon really and truly "lived the dream" of every teenage girl in America in the 1960's and her relationship with Eddie Cochran was so special...it's a "must read" for anyone who grew up in that fabulous time or loves the great music that the story talks about!!!
